SKINS - NEW WORKS, 2026

This work references the body through textile forms and anatomical imagery, alongside ideas of emotional body mapping, where internal sensations and emotional states are understood as being held within different areas of the body. The work considers protective skins as adaptive responses. Garment-like forms incorporate zippers, pockets, rope, and hoods, encouraging interaction, containment, and release. These elements extend the body, suggesting the self as porous, responsive, and in flux.

There is also a connection to fidget blankets and similar tactile objects used for nervous system regulation. Through touch, repetition, and sensory engagement, these materials support grounding and calm. This logic is extended into the work, where surface, structure, and interaction invite embodied attention and sensory awareness.
