Liron Gilmore is a multidisciplinary artist working across textiles, sculpture, video and participatory art. Drawing on somatic practice and contemporary understandings of consciousness, she creates tactile works that explore the physical and emotional experience of being in a body. Through touch, movement and sensory encounter, her practice investigates how awareness can transform our relationship to discomfort, uncertainty and the stories we carry about ourselves.
Hands, pockets, fastenings, buttons and stitching recur throughout her work as both materials and metaphors. These everyday forms point to the ways we seek comfort, create order, make meaning and hold things together.
At the heart of Gilmore's practice is a belief in art's capacity to deepen awareness. Her work explores embodied ways of knowing and what it means to be fully alive
Gilmore holds a Master of Arts in Media Arts and Production and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication. Alongside her artistic practice, she has lectured in creative media and visual arts for over fifteen years.
